Legacies of Lee and Jackson
Saturday, January 20, at 1:00 pm
Texas Civil War Museum Theater, Free
In the 19th century, Americans knew there was a deep divide which existed between two drastically different cultures known as the North and the South. These differences existed long before the beginning of America’s young history—coming from the motherland. These sectional and cultural differences are still pondered today. Just this last year many do not understand how Robert E. Lee and Stonewall Jackson’s reputations could be struck a suffering blow. These two men were masterful Generals, brilliant strategists, and faithful Christians who have become tremendously misunderstood more than 150 years after the war.
In honor of these two men’s birthdays (Lee born January 19,1807 and Jackson born January 21,1824) the Texas Civil War Museum will show a free 80 minute documentary placing these larger than life figures in historical and cultural context of their time.
Join us to explore the legacies of Lee and Jackson and meet them for who they were and not for what they have become.
