Stop by the Texas Civil War Museum tent and learn about Texas in the War Between the States from soldiers who will show you thier equiptment, including a Gatlin gun. Watch ladies in period dress spin, quilt, sew, make soap, laundry clothes, make cornhusk dolls and weave baskets.
This year is the Bicentennial year of Jefferson Davis. As a special treat, his great, great grandson, Bertram Hayes-Davis, will protray Davis as the U.S. Secretary of War and review the Texas troops. With him will be the U.S. Camel Corps which Davis brought to Texas in the 1850s.
If more learning about these subjects is desired, then you may visit with two book authors who have written books about Jefferson Davis and the camel corps: Professor Rickey Pittman and Dr. Selby Parker.
The Museum exhibit is being supported in part by the generous donation of Ms. Betty Mann, United Daughters of the Confederacy.
